The Elements, motifs and patterns of the Tale
When looking at Beauty and the Beast's evolution, "persistence of intrinsic elements" and common patterns can be viewed, whether from the first printed version or from tales of Beauty and the Beast still made today (Hearne, 1989, p. 6).
To be within the Aarne Thompson subtype of 425C the stories should contain "a young daughter, a father, a beast who is transformed at the end into a handsome prince, a flower of unspeakable beauty, and a garden" (Bidoshi, 2008). Besides the characters and the beautiful flower there is the element of enchantment and virtues and of course reoccurring themes.
